The multi-volume Roster contains an alpahbetical listing of all Union soldiers and an additonal two volumes contain an alpahbetical listing of the U.S.C.T. Both works are very useful for searching family history or indentifying inscribed artifacts.

This book contains a history of all of the units mentioned in its title. The unit provide much more detail than the sources listed above and are in a narrative format. Lots of illustrations. -- A must have if you are interested in this topic.
